Many fail by revealing too much information on their resume, to the point that there is no room left for the imagination of the reader. Sure, this method can work but realistically, ask yourself – if no one reads an entire Terms & Conditions, why would people change their behaviour and read every single detail of your resume? Therefore, the point is to be concise and to-the-point.
There is a common misconception that hiring managers are some kind of demi-god and have all the time and attention in the world to give to each and every single application. The truth is – they are only human! Put yourself in their shoes. If you had to read hundreds, sometimes even thousands, of lengthy dull and generic-looking resumes, you would get quite tired of it also. Their job is already hard enough, so if you are able to make their job just a little bit easier, they will appreciate it and reciprocate the favour. There must be a fundamental reason why the Executive Summary has remained important, if not the most important section, throughout the ages.
